Below are those organisations who provide safe spaces for our community, who are gender positive allies.

 

This means they provide inclusive and affirming spaces for individuals of all gender identities and expressions.

 

It also means that if you feel in danger you can go to them for safety and help.

Open Minds Counselling Services Ltd.

Free and subsidised one to one counselling for children aged 8 and over, and adults.

Actively trans-positive gender diverse therapy team. Open Minds will  respect your identity and keep you safe. Children and adults can access one to one therapy and be confident that the counsellor will not out them to others in their lives.

Zone 5 to 19

Doncaster health and wellbeing service

This is a health and wellbeing service for Doncaster Children, Young People and families. The service is run by professionals including  Contraception and Sexual Health Nurses, Substance Misuse Workers, School Nurses and Support Workers 

​

Zone 5 to 19 seek to empower Children and Young People to make informed choices, when making decisions about their life. 

​

The service is free and completely confidential unless someone is in danger. 

With a huge variety of confidential support on the most important issues you can face, Zone 5 to 19 can help to support the health of  Trans Young People across Doncaster. Their city centre hub at the Flying Scotsman is safe, friendly and inclusive space for all. They will always use your preferred name and pronouns, but will not out you to anyone.

Their notes can be kept separate and not appear on medical records that your parents can access, should you chose. Meaning you can discuss your concerns without fear of anyone finding out. Support includes around the following issues:

  • Contraception and sexual health

  • Drugs and alcohol

  • Staying Safe

  • Smoking and vaping

  • Healthy relationships

  • Keeping healthy (physically and emotionally)

With Me in Mind 

With Me in Mind is a Mental Health Support Team. The core functions of our service are:

 

  • Working with schools to enhance support already in place, support learning around mental health wellbeing. We offer assemblies and focussed lesson delivery for young people and also offer training sessions to school staff, parents and carers. 

​

  • Advice and sign posting is provided through direct consultations with school staff, ensuring young people access the most appropriate service. 

​

  • We also offer low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy interventions, this is guided self help, either offered to young people directly or parents and carers of primary aged children. 

​

We are passionate about supporting young people and their families in developing skills and understanding on how to maintain positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.

 

We are person focussed service, and pride ourselves on offering an inclusive service, focussed on support individual needs.

One of the aims of WMiM (Mental Health Support Teams) is to work with the most vulnerable groups in society ensuing they receive early intervention and support around their emotional/mental health. 

 

The service currently supports many diverse groups such as the GRT, BAME and LGBTQ+ community to name but a few.

Doncaster ICB (Integrated Care Board)  

As an ICB, we work with our partners in the four Places (Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield) to understand and meet the local health and care of people in each of these areas. 

By focusing on local communities and the services, care and wellbeing needed by the people who live in them, we can support everyone to be healthier. We want to make the most of the skills of local people, communities and organisations to support people to lead healthier lives and care for themselves and each other.
