Mission

To bring together trans-supportive organisations, and make it easy for transgender people to identify safe places for them to access support and services. Places where they will be treated with kindness, respect and dignity.

This includes businesses, health providers, voluntary, community, faith and social enterprises.

How we do this

Our team of dedicated volunteers, of diverse gender identities and expressions, are talking to organisations in Doncaster in order to -

  • Identify existing Gender Positive Allies

  • Identify existing Safe Spaces

  • Promote the development of new Allies and Safe Spaces

  • Support Organisations to become better Allies

Who do we help?
and why?

There are countless gender identities, and even more ways to express gender!

In a world that seems increasingly hostile to children and adults who present differently to the gender they were assigned at birth, it feels very important to show people that there are allies everywhere, that not everyone is hostile.

The voices of those who hate and fear transgender, non-binary, gender queer people, can be very loud, and very powerful. Only through enough voices raised together to show solidarity and support can we overcome transphobia.

We aim to use gender inclusive language throughout this website. Please be patient if we get anything wrong - our team are people of diverse gender identities but we don't know everything!

We created the GPA because we are very aware that life is becoming increasingly hostile for anyone who isn't cisgender, especially gender non-conforming, gender queer and transgender children.

We want to make sure the safe places and the voices of allies in the community can be heard by those who most need to hear them.

The GPA isn't an advocacy group right now, it is simply trying to help people in the gender diverse community finds places they can go and be treated with dignity and kindness.
